| How to install the program? | ||
| Download the installation file of the program from the download page. Double click the CPWDPlgAppSetup.exe file. Follow the steps in the setup wizard. By default the program is installed in C:\Program Files\CPWD Planning Application folder. The program requires .NET framework 2. If it is not already installed, the program will not run. Download it from the download page and install it. Download the crystal reports run time zip file from download page, unzip it and install the executable file. When prompted for ProductID enter the product ID given in the text file obtained by unzipping. In word reports the hindi font is used from Shree lipi of modular products, the basic version of which is provided by ILDC.in website as free distribution. It can be downloaded from download page. | ||
| How to activate the program? | ||
| After successful installation when the program is run, the activation form is opened. In the form a product ID which is unique to the computer is displayed. Send this product ID to CDO, CPWD through Executive Engineer of your office concerned to obtain the activation code. After receiving the activation code, enter it in the activation code field of the form. After activating, the program displays the login form | ||
| The program is displaying the login form with username and password fields. How to obtain them? | ||
| After activating the program the activation form will not be displayed. But the login form will be displayed. By default two users are created when the program is installed. Administrator with admin as username and password and a user with user as username and password. In the program three levels of security is provided. The DSR items, DAR and basic rates for DAR cannot be added, deleted or modified either by the admin user or the normal user. The modified schedule items, NS items and analysis can be added, deleted or modified by the admin user. Apart from this, the data which is stored in master database like cost index data, contractors data etc. can be created and modified only by the admin user. The normal user cannot save any data to the master database. This has been provided to have better security and to avoid any change in the DSR, DAR and basic rates for DAR either intentionally or unintentionally. If any correction slip is issued for these, the changes will be made and the corrected database will be posted on CPWD website for download.. Hence, for better security keep the password of the admin user safe and available only to the responsible person(s). To change the usernames and password open the edit users form from tools menu. This command is available when the program is started by admin user. | ||
| Can I use the same activation code on more than one computer? | ||
| No. The activation code is unique for each computer. Hence, a different activation code is required for each computer on which the program is installed. | ||
| When I format the hard disk, change RAM is it required to obtain an activation code again? | ||
| No. Eventhough the hard disk is formatted and RAM is changed the same activation code will work. Hence, the activation code is required to be obtained for each computer only once. | ||
| What is the minimum configuration required. | ||
| It is preferrable to have Pentium IV or higher with 1 GB RAM for better performance. Windows XP with SP2 or Windows Vista operating system is required. | ||
| Can I use DSR items with modification and Non Schedule items in the program? | ||
| Yes. The modified DSR and non schedule items can be used. The analysis of rates can also be entered for these items. It is possible to copy the item nomenclature, analysis item components etc. from other similar items, so that it reduces the typing work. The program displays the modified DSR items and NS items with colour coding so that they can be easily recognized. | ||
| The estimate is prepared in another office and the modified DSR and non schedule items used in the estimate are present in the master database of that office, but they are not present in the master database of our office. How to justify these items. | ||
| There are two options. If the analysis of rate is not available to the program the user can enter the justified rate directly, so that the program will not analyse those items. Secondly, when the estimate is prepared in another office where the analysis of rate for the modified DSR and non schedule items is availble in the master database, there the analysis can be copied to the estimate. So, that when the estimate is copied from that computer, the analysis of rates of mDSR and NS items will be available within the estimate file. When the justificcation is done in another office, the program first searches for the analysis of rate of mDSR and NS items in the estimate, if found, it will be taken from the estimate and then it searches for other items in the master database. | ||
| Is it possible to prepare bills and statements in the program | ||
| The comparative statement is exported to excel format. Hence, the excel file can be used for preparation of bills by making the necessary modifications. | ||
| Is it possible to export the basic rates required for justification and then enter it separately and send back for justification? | ||
| Yes. After the items for justification are selected a list of basic rates required for the justification is prepared. This list can be exported to excel format spreadsheet. The rates can be entered in this spreadsheet and sent back to the office concerned. Then the basic rates can be imported from this spreadsheet and justification can be prepared. | ||
| Is it possible to prepare the Extra Item, Substituted Item, Deviation Item statements from the program? | ||
| An estimate can be prepared with these items and justification be prepared. Then, the items can be exported to excel and the analysis of rate can be used for the preparation of statements. | ||
| How to check the estimate from another computer? | ||
| When the computers are connected in network, in open estimate file form click the create estimate folder button. In the open folder dialog box, browse to the estimate folder in which estimate were created on the other computer. Then click the refresh estimate folder button. It will display all the estimates present in that estimate folder. You can select an estimate from list and can work on that. Any changes made and saved will be saved in the estimate file of that computer. It is important to note that the same estimate should not be operated simultaneosly on both the computers. This will cause concurrency error. Similarly the master database of that computer can also be selected with the button provided for that purpose on the open estimate form. But again it should not be operated simultaneosly. | ||
| How to copy the estimate from one computer to another computer? | ||
| The estimate files are stored in a folder created for the estimate under the estimate folder. Copy this folder to the estimate folder of another computer and click refresh button on the open estimate form to show the copied estimate in the table. Then the estimate can be opened and work can be done. But, the modified and non schedule items which were present in the estimate will not be available in the master database of the other computer. However, all the reports can be obtained as the items are already present in the estimate. There is an option to import Non Schedule items from excel spreadsheet. | ||
| Can I make my own word template reports? | ||
| Yes. You can create word format reports and save them in the installation folder of the program, which is by default C:\Program Files\CPWDPlanningApplication. The name should start with mTmp. In the file you can use the parameters enclosed in the { } braces. The user can also create parameters in the NIT and other word format reports form opened from the reports menu. If you feel it is useful to other users it can be emailed to CPWDPlgApp@gmail.com with subject TMPL:short description of template. So, that it can be posted on this web page for download by other users. Create template files for all the letters and reports which are related to the estimate, as it will save time. | ||
| The program is not displaying the name of work and estimate cost in the open estimate form, why? | ||
| The name of work and estimate cost are stored in the database when the estimate is saved. If the estimate is created but not yet saved, then these data is not displayed in the open estimate form. | ||
| I have created an estimate and opened it. When I start the program again it is not shown in the open recent estimate table of the open estimate form, why? | ||
| Whenever an estimate is saved, it is listed in open recent estimate table. If it is not yet saved then you cannot see under open recent estimate tab. | ||
| Can I save any estimate as a template file and what is the advantage? | ||
| Yes. Any estimate can be saved as a estimate template and it can be used later for creating a new estimate. The advantage is that, some of the data like designations for reports, Cost Index etc. are repetitive type. Hence, if this data is entered once and saved as template file, typing work will be reduced when a new estimate is created. However, be careful to check such data in the new estimate whether it is applicable for that estimate or not. | ||
| When I made some changes and goto enter tender rates form, an error message is displayed that there is a mismatch in number of items between Items and Tender table. What is the problem? | ||
| When tenderers are created in the estimate file the items from the estimate are copied for each tenderer so that their rates can be entered. After this, if any change is made in the estimate it will not be reflected in the items of the tenderers. However, this should not be the case as the tenders are received only after finalization of estimate. But, if such problem is encountered, delete the tenderers and again create tenderers, so that the changed items will be copied. | ||
| Can I enter designations in Hindi? | ||
| Yes. From Windows 2000 and Windows XP the Hindi is provided at operating system level itself. If it is not already enabled then enable it from control panel->regional languages settings. Then you can type in hindi in the designations field of the designations form. | ||
| When I run justification and open the justification form, program says justified rate not available for an item No. What is the issue? | ||
| For the program to prepare justification of an item the analysis item components should be available. For the DSR items the analysis of rates is already available in the master database. When the user creates a modified DSR, NS item and does not enter the analysis of rates for those items, but selects them for justification the program displays this error. As an alternative you can enter the justified rate of such items directly as user justified rate in the select items for justification form. | ||
| The report displays object reference not set message. Will it affect the report? | ||
| No. Simply click the OK button. There will not be any change in the report. | ||
| What is modified schedule item? | ||
| Sometimes it is required to modify the DSR item either in the nomenclature or in the analysis of rates, but using the same basic rates of DSR. In such cases the cost index is to be applied on these items also unlike Non schedule items. Hence, these have been classified as Modified schedule items and the program displays in a different colour for easy recognition. | ||
| What is amount bar chart displayed in estimate form? | ||
| It is estimated cost of an item displayed as percentage of the total estimated cost. This can be sorted by clicking the heading of the column. It provides visual means to quickly get an idea about the weigtage of different items in the estimate. To display the percentage on the total amount of items present in the table, use the toggle button provided in the toolbar above the table. | ||
| How to print this FAQ page. If I print only part of the page is getting printed. | ||
