NEW DELHI REGION

 

Amongst The 7 Regions in CPWD New delhi Region, headed by ADG(S&P), is having the smallest geographical area. However, in terms of importance and sensitivity it is the most important as it has been entrusted the job of not only maintaining the most prestigious buildings in the country but also carrying out construction for the VVIPs.

 

The different zones under the Region look after the works related to the President House, the Prime Minister’s House, the residences of all Cabinet Ministers, Members of Parliament, Judges of the Supreme Court and High Court, Senior level Bureaucrats and other VVIPs.

 

Not only are the residences of the VVIPs maintained by the Region but also all prestigious non residential buildings are also maintained by the Region. These include the Parliament House, North & South Blocks, Vigyan Bhawan, Supreme Court of India, National Museum, National Archives, and all the grand buildings along the central Vista.

 

Besides this the Region is also tasked with the maintenance of the 3 major hospitals in the NCT of Delhi i.e. Safderjung, Ram Manohar Lohia and Smt. Sucheta Kriplani.

 

The responsibility of maintaining and organizing ceremonial functions at the Samadhis of the distinguished leaders of the nation is also shouldered by NDR.

 

The NDR is also responsible for maintaining the entire unfiltered water supply in the New Delhi area.

 

The Region has 5 functional zones. The details of the zones are

Many prestigious projects have been recently carried out by the zones under the Region. Some of them are:

 

Development of DDU Park at Rouse Avenue

 

Renovation of Raj Ghat and providing additional facilities

 

Construction of handicraft Bhawan ate Connought place

 

 

Development of Jai Prakash Narain Park

 

 

 

The construction of the Jawahar lal Nehru Bhwan for MEA is likely to be taken up soon.
